Meeting Heidi Swapp and Kim Jeffres

IMG_3495
A few months ago Amber noticed on Kim Jeffres blog that Heidi Swapp and herself will be touring around Australia and said we should go, we then rang around to some of our scrappy friends and asked if they would like to go too… Plans fell in to place very quickly and our road trip was planned!
Finally the week had arrived! Our bags where packed and after taking kids to dancing classes etc we where on the road to Perth late on Friday and arrived at around 10pm.
We where all so excited we where up and ready VERY early and headed to the Dome for breakfast before heading to the venue for our day of classes.
Waiting outside for the doors to open.

First up was a technique class with Heidi. She showed various techniques using her colour shine sprays.

Amber ready to start.

Theresa, Karen and Carrie

Donna, Jandell, Sam and Louise

The difference between them and other brands like Glimmer Mist and Dylusions, is that the colours are more intense. Even though they are still a water based spray – it has less water and more paint giving it a more opaque look. And of course there is plenty of “shine” in it too!

After making several tags, and learning Heidi’s special Legally Blonde technique, it was time for lunch.

After lunch Kim Jeffres showed us a variety of techniques in our Christmas book.

Including painting our hands and making a Santa!

She also talked about how important it is to PRINT your photos and not just keep them on your computer. Unfortunately for Kim, she lost nearly all the photos she had from a very special holiday due to the computer breaking down.

We then breaked for afternoon tea. When we got back for our last class, a memory file album, Heidi shared her personal story with us. It also engraved deep in to us how important it is to scrap, and why we all started in the first place.
She has also inspired us to hold a very special monthly class starting in January – more details will follow! (Thanks Karen and Amber for helping me sort out my ideas while we where on our long journey home!)

And finally a group photo – except Karen, Carrie and Theresa had already gone outside… Might need to photoshop them in!

(Kim was on the other side of the room talking to other people which is why we couldn’t get her in this photo too. We do have a photo of Amber, Kim and I but for some reason it wouldn’t load.)

To round the day off, 5 of us went to dinner at Hogs breath cafe before starting our long drive home.

We all had a wonderful and inspiring day! We will definitely go again when they do another tour!
Photos of our classes will be put up as soon as I have finished them… hopefully that won’t take too long!

The Perfect Craft Room

IMG_3276
At the moment we are building our first home… It is starting to look really good. Today they poured the cement in the garage and peeping through the windows I saw that the kitchen cupboards are now in place.

Which means I don’t have long to decide how to fill my craft room. (Yep I’m getting my own craft room!! No more sharing the dining table!!)

On Monday we drove down to Perth to drop Tony (my husband) off for work and went in to IKEA.

We weren’t the only ones….

The people piled in for over 20 minutes at this pace! Not sure where they all came from as there definitely weren’t that many waiting outside!

We walked through the shop admiring some items, not liking others as much… then I saw THE room!! For those that have never been to IKEA, they have a number of rooms set up so you can see how things work in rooms.

This room was around the same size as my soon to be craft room. And it had the PERFECT amount of storage without it looking too crowded.

Elisa and I sat at the desk for a while admiring everything…. unfortunately it was so busy I couldn’t take a photo of the room without including about 10 other people.

I contacted IKEA via facebook yesterday explaining how it was my perfect room and I need all the items… today they sent me a photo and will be sending me a list of everything tomorrow.

Very happy now 🙂 Although I think I will need to start saving….

What do you think of this room?

Would there be enough storage for you? I love how there is 2 desks opposite each other so I can sit there and do things with the kids too.
I can see myself spending plenty of hours in here….

Sneak Peek of classes with Melissa Kennedy

IMG_5837
As promised here are the sneak peeks Melissa e-mailed through to me for the classes on the 19th October.

Lady Rose Collection

We will be creating a double page layout using this beautiful collection.

Hidden Treasures Collection

In this class we will be creating 2 single page layouts.

We have lists of what to bring and photo sizes ready in the shop for those attending. Pretty sure I have e-mailed everyone outside of Geraldton. If  you don’t have a list yet – let me know and I’ll send it through.

We still have a couple of spaces left so don’t leave it too long to book in!!

Storing Cards

On numerous occasions we get asked what is the best way to store the cards you receive for special occasions.

When Tony and I got married, I stuck all of the cards we received onto the last pages in our album. When Elisa (our first child) was born, I made a mini book out of it. Unfortunately its in storage and I haven’t been able to show people exactly what I mean – but today I stumbled upon a detailed photo (and fancier than mine!) little album on pinterest.
