Christmas Tree Tutorial

IMG_3613
Busy wrapping presents and have realised you haven’t got any tags? Make some quick and easy ones using an old book.

What you need:

Some card or shipping tags
pages from an old book or dictionary
ink pad to ink edges
some ink spray or paints to spritz the background
rhinestones or pearls

Start with a semi circle cut out from a book page (I used a dictionary)

Ink edges

Bring the rounded edge up across the straight edge.  Depending on where you start the fold – it will determine the width of the tree.

Fold back across

Then back again… Add a little bit of glue or double sided tape under each of the folds to hold your tree together.

Cut a small piece of cardstock for the stem. Attache to the back of the tree.

Add some ice stickles or Kindy glitz to your tree to represent tinsel!

Have fun making some trees!

Kid’s Canvas Class on Monday 23rd December

IMG_3568
We are giving some sanity back to parents – a chance to have a couple of hours off to finish off your final Christmas shopping or just have a break!

Starting at 2pm and finishing at 4pm we will be creating this canvas:

Everything is included in the class. The canvas is also easily adjustable – leave a couple of the Gingerbread men off and you could leave space for this years family Christmas photo!
Let me know if you would like to book in!

Cost of the class is $20 per person.
Wishing everyone a fantastic Sunday!

December Kaiser Collections

CT778
On following on quickly from November here is December…. at least I am writing about the right month now!

Kaisercraft released 3 beautiful collections this month. Paradiso, Key to my Heart and Confetti.

Pardiso was mine to do…and lets just say its still coming – I do aim to catch up over the Christmas break!

Did you know that every month Kaisercraft releases a brand new Work shop magazine full of layouts and ideas for the new collections? We have the glossy hard copies available in store – but if you are unable to pick one up you can see it all {HERE}

PARADISO

With paper names like Salty Kisses, Sandy Toes and Sunsets it’s not hard to picture the inspiration behind the new “Paradiso” collection. If you love the beach and summer as much as we do, you can’t go past “Paradiso”

Here is the work from the Kaiser Design Team:

Key to my Heart

Get carried away in the romantic whirlwind that is “Key to my Heart”. This fanciful collection is the perfect excuse to dig out all your loved up snap shots and make an adorable homage to your sweetheart. Show your love this month and pick up “key to my heart” today.

Here are a couple of layouts created by the very clever Natalie

And here are a couple from the Kaiser Design Team

And the 3rd release this month is

Confetti

With bold pastels, playful patterns and fun cut out elements, it is hard to ignore the sunny disposition spread across the papers of confetti. Add a happy glow to your day and pick Kaisers happiest collection yet!

November Collections

CS144
I know, I know its mid December and I am telling you about the collections now?

I have been so busy I have forgotten to blog and 2 designers have done some awesome work that I still need to share with you (and I haven’t finished my end of the deal yet…. so the collections with no layouts are the ones I was allocated to do…. Sorry!!)

Firstly:

Tea Break

If you have been dreaming of a soft and feminine collection then “Tea Break” is for you. These colourful pastel papers are sweeter than a cup of sugar and make for a delightful homage to the 1950’s housewife. Playful quotes, retro prints and an abundance of florals add that special ingredient.

Here is what Amber created with the collection:

Cards by Miss Betsy

Next up is:
The Looking Glass
Fall down the rabbit hole and enter the world of “The Looking Glass”. This Alice in Wonderland inspired collection is filled with more colour, quirk and intrigue than the Mad Hatter himself could dream up. Explore your curiosity and pick up this range today.

And unfortunately I haven’t created my layouts yet (although I do have the photos picked out! Its a start isn’t??) So here are some from the Kaiser Design Team:

And finally we have

Garage Days

If you have been waiting for a masculine collection then its time to pick up your tools and get to work. Garage days is here and has more tyres, cars, tools and grease than your local mechanic. Roll up your sleeves and get the job done with this wonderful male collection.

And here are a couple of beautiful layouts created by the very talented Amber.

A change is in the Air….

A while ago I took part in 2 days of business training. They where 2 very full on days.

During those 2 days Jo (from Red Day Training) took us through every single aspect of our business. We had to analyse why we do certain tasks, our aim from having the business etc etc.

It is really a bit confronting as you start a business with certain ideals and wants, but then you get caught up with it all and you end up just taking care of day to day items to keep your business turning over rather than continual working towards the BIG plan!

Jo also made us look at where we want our business to go in the next year, 5 years etc.

It has taken me a while but I have now spent the past couple of months sitting and rethinking and planning things and  am now at a place that I can start steering by business back on course and heading towards where I want to go.

It will take approx. 6 months for all the changes to take shape but the seeds have been sown and the start is there.

During the coming months you will see us selling off a number of items. Like the Kaiser Wood Decor.

As we order from Kaisercraft weekly and have no minimum on the wood items we will still be able to order any items for you. So for all the stock currently in store – you can buy 1 get one Free! (while stocks last)

There are more items that will slowly be removed from our shelves,  and so we make room for some exclusive brands and items which we will be stocking in the new year.

We also have some shop fitting for sale if you, or anyone you know are interested. We already have a number of paper stands going out for $25 each. (rrp $58!)

Watch our newsletters and facebook page for weekly specials.

That’s it for now – I will let you all know when I can reveal more 🙂

Enjoy the rest of your week!!

Meeting Heidi Swapp and Kim Jeffres

IMG_3495
A few months ago Amber noticed on Kim Jeffres blog that Heidi Swapp and herself will be touring around Australia and said we should go, we then rang around to some of our scrappy friends and asked if they would like to go too… Plans fell in to place very quickly and our road trip was planned!
Finally the week had arrived! Our bags where packed and after taking kids to dancing classes etc we where on the road to Perth late on Friday and arrived at around 10pm.
We where all so excited we where up and ready VERY early and headed to the Dome for breakfast before heading to the venue for our day of classes.
Waiting outside for the doors to open.

First up was a technique class with Heidi. She showed various techniques using her colour shine sprays.

Amber ready to start.

Theresa, Karen and Carrie

Donna, Jandell, Sam and Louise

The difference between them and other brands like Glimmer Mist and Dylusions, is that the colours are more intense. Even though they are still a water based spray – it has less water and more paint giving it a more opaque look. And of course there is plenty of “shine” in it too!

After making several tags, and learning Heidi’s special Legally Blonde technique, it was time for lunch.

After lunch Kim Jeffres showed us a variety of techniques in our Christmas book.

Including painting our hands and making a Santa!

She also talked about how important it is to PRINT your photos and not just keep them on your computer. Unfortunately for Kim, she lost nearly all the photos she had from a very special holiday due to the computer breaking down.

We then breaked for afternoon tea. When we got back for our last class, a memory file album, Heidi shared her personal story with us. It also engraved deep in to us how important it is to scrap, and why we all started in the first place.
She has also inspired us to hold a very special monthly class starting in January – more details will follow! (Thanks Karen and Amber for helping me sort out my ideas while we where on our long journey home!)

And finally a group photo – except Karen, Carrie and Theresa had already gone outside… Might need to photoshop them in!

(Kim was on the other side of the room talking to other people which is why we couldn’t get her in this photo too. We do have a photo of Amber, Kim and I but for some reason it wouldn’t load.)

To round the day off, 5 of us went to dinner at Hogs breath cafe before starting our long drive home.

We all had a wonderful and inspiring day! We will definitely go again when they do another tour!
Photos of our classes will be put up as soon as I have finished them… hopefully that won’t take too long!
