A Weekend with Melissa Kennedy…

I’m very excited to let you all know that Melissa has taken time out of her busy schedule to head over to WA to teach us!

For those that haven’t heard of her here is a brief run down:

My Photo Melissa is the head designer at Kaisercraft. As well as creating wonderful projects every month she also helps with the design of new products, and edits the Kaiser Workshop magazine. Oh did I mention she is also often published in scrapbooking magazines and is friends with all the “Scrapbooking Celebrities” that we would like to be friends with?

Her Scrapbooking CV is extensive. She has taught overseas, on cruise ships and all around Australia. You can find her blog is {here}.

The details of the classes will be released a bit closer to the date as Melissa will be using the very latest products and they aren’t available yet! There will however be 2 Scrapbooking layout classes and 1 off the page project.

For our weekend we have decided to make it extra special this time and hold it at the Priory Hotel in Dongara. Prices listed below are for twin share. There are a couple of single rooms available, also some quad share.
The Priory Hotel

On Saturday morning the first class will start at 9.30am, so you will need to be at the Priory by 9am. (You can stay the night before – and we will be scrapping away that night if you would like to join us!). The first class (layout) will run for approx. 3 hours, we will then break for lunch after which we will go straight onto the 2nd class (an off the page project!).

At 6.30pm we will be breaking for dinner (a yummy buffet!). After dinner you are welcome to come back and scrap through out the night. (There will be some games and challenges).

Sunday Morning after breakfast the last class will start at 9.30am (layout) and run for approx. 3 hours. After the class we will break for lunch and you can choose to either scrap for another couple of hours or go for a walk on the trail. At 3pm we will be winding up after afternoon tea.

Anzac Day – Remember Me Collection

Happy Sunday Everyone!

Just over a month ago I was approached by the Royal Australian Air Force if I would like to donate anything to their raffle. Of course I said Yes!

Seeing at it was mostly defence personnel purchasing the tickets, and I wasn’t sure if they would all be as crafty, I decided to make something for them rather than just sending them some product.

Kaisercraft had just released a wonderful collection called “Remember Me” which I thought was perfect for an Anzac Day raffle.

I created a canvas (I forgot to take a photo!!) featuring some of these papers in the background, then I stamped the beautiful Donna Downey Poppy Stamp on to it. Using a mask of the stamp, I texture pasted the poppies in red to really make them stand out.

I then also made a paper bag album.

Tags can be pulled out for journaling.

With my left overs I created 6 cards to go with it.

The Corporal, from the Australian Army, who won the package was extremely happy and has already filled the album with photos. His wife is actually an avid scrapbooker and loved it! (so I could have just taken the easy way out and just sent the product 🙂 )

Wishing you all a crafty Sunday!

making Circles has become easy…

Hello!
Last week a new tool arrived in store, and for all those Sew Easy users this is a must have!
Do you love using your sew easy to create sewing holes or the stamps to create stamped straight lines? How about making perfect circles with them?
Have a look at this short video which explains it a lot better than I could…
We have the large mat (12 x 13″) and the circle adapters in store now. They are also available online {here}.

Prima Weekend

On Friday 26th April, Elisa and I picked up Janine Koczwara from Geraldton Airport. Yep – she was really here! After months of preparation and build up we occasionally wondered if she would really come all the way to Geraldton.

To say we are fans of Janine is an understatement!! Why Janine? About 6 months ago we (Amber and I) decided we would love to have a Scrapbooking Celebrity teach us some awesome new techniques. We had a pretty big criteria list and Janine fitted the bill perfectly. So I sent off an email, and she said she was more than happy to come and teach us!
Janine designed 4 classes for us. 2 Layouts, a card class (using not yet released Prima dies!) and a canvas class.
Here are the kits:

On Friday night we went out to dinner at Tanti’s then Janine, along with Jo and Addie who flew up from Perth for our weekend, stayed in the Bed and Breakfast on George Street.
Pam (the owner) was really wonderful. I had booked Janine the Garden Room with ensuite, but Pam (after finding out who was coming) upgraded her to the Cottage with Spa bath. Thanks Pam!
Click {here} to head over to the website.
On Saturday morning the Ladies arrived nice and early for their class. We had ladies from Dongara, Mullewa, Mingenew, Port Kennedy, Perth and of course Geraldton.
We started off with the Feminine Distress layout. In true Janine style this layout is full of distressing, layer upon layer, flowers and many techniques. We did go 1 hour over time on this layout!

We stopped briefly for a yummy lunch supplied by Senses Cafe (click here) then continued on with our card class.

We created 3 pretty cards using the Pretty Pastel collection, some special flowers (Janine had bought with her from Prima HQ in the US) and we got an exclusive and where able to use the new dies from Prima which will be released in the coming weeks!

On Sunday we had more ladies join us, and to make it easier for Janine I rearranged all the tables in the morning to make it a big U shape. The morning started off with some more distressing and fun techniques to create a gorgeous layout which suits more masculine themes.

Lunch was once again supplied by Nat from Senses Cafe (what a champ – starting work at 5am to make us all lunch!)
After lunch we settled back down to get in to the mixed media and creating a stunning canvas.

At the end of the weekend we have all become a little Janine-a-fied. Tools we never thought we needed we can’t do without (the Prima Distress tool), never believed we would change from our favourite adhesive  and now find ourselves only using Helmar 450 and I have an overwhelming urge to use doilies on all of my layouts!
Thank You Janine for a Wonderful Weekend! We are so honoured that you came to teach us, and so happy you have said you will return.
