Painting on Fabric

lgpics_ClearFabricMedium
Someone asked me the other day if I stock fabric paint, and I don’t as they are quite expensive and it is really hard to stock EVERYTHING.

But what we do stock is a highly underused product called Fabric Medium from Ranger.

Here is the information from Ranger:

The Ranger Clear Fabric Medium is a dimensional acrylic medium that creates custom fabric paints. Just add color to the clear formula by mixing with Ranger Archival Inks, Adirondack Pigment Inks, Adirondack Alcohol Inks or Perfect Pearls Pigment Powders. Use with glitters and embossing powders for added sparkly effects, too.
Create wearable art by using the custom paints to stencil, stamp or paint with a brush onto t-shirts, aprons, handbags, scarves and more.
• Create fabric paints

• Clear acrylic formula• Add color with Ranger products• Acid free and non-toxic

As well as mixing it with the Ranger products listed above you can also mix it with any acrylic paint to create Fabric Paint.
And what do you do with Fabric Paint? Have a look at these images / ideas from Pinterest:

Also great for making custom decorated pillows! You are limited only by your imagination. For more ideas got to Pinterest and search fabric paint. Or click {here}

Pinspiration!

Are you on Pinterest? I often get lost on there. Wether I am looking for ideas for our new house, storage ideas or craftiness.

This week I have been looking for some ideas for our new house. I will actually have a room for all my crafty items! As the room is smallish I have looked for ways that can store a lot with out looking cluttered.

What do you think of a desk like this? So easy to make with 2 book cases and a table top! Even I could make this!!

{The blogs these images are originally from are linked on the picture.}
And my favourite idea from this week is a way to keep track of your punches.
Make small white cards and punch out the shape. You can laminate this card, then keep it on a ring with your other ones. Then when you need a punch (or die!) – instead of getting them all out and hunting through just place your cut out over it and you can see instantly if it will fit! You can then reach for your desired punch or die cut.

The power is starting the flicker a little in this wild weather we are having so I had better turn off the computer!

Wishing everyone an awesome week ahead!!

Another week flown by…

IMG_3078
Hello!

This week has really flown by again! We had canvas classes, scrapbooking classes as well as card making and a kids class. My little boy turned 6 on Friday, there was a sports carnival at school, today the kids went to a party this morning, I worked, then in the afternoon Elisa and I met up with some Arty Farty People (click here to join that FB group 🙂 – you won’t regret it!!) and now I should be getting ready for my little man’s birthday party we are holding at the park in Strathalbyn tomorrow (after soccer in the morning!).

What have you been up to this week?

The kids where face painted at the party this morning. Unfortunately it looks like little Alex will be staying slightly green as even with scrubbing I couldn’t remove the rest!! Doesn’t help that his skin is allergic to lots of things I could have possibly used to help remove it (like baby oil!)

Elisa enjoying chalking on the pavement at the Arty farty Meeting.

Our re-stock of the following VERY popular stamps arrived this week and are back on the shelf… Only $4 each!! They are not online – so if you are not in Geraldton and am interested in them please give me a call on 0408 913684 to order.

And these stamps are only $8.50 and available now as well…the 2 Christmas ones have plenty of different saying to ensure you have the perfect one for everyone!
Looking for somewhere to store your project life cards? Have a look at this great new storage solution from kaiser Craft!
And off course Kaiser have plenty of other new BTP projects as well….

All wood items are available in store.

Captured Moments – Project Life Style of Scrapbooking…

Workshop_AUGUST2013.indd
 Hello!

Even though Becky Higgins has been around for a while, the scrapbooking world seems to have gone mad about  the Project Life style of scrapbooking. (A.k.a. modular scrapbooking)

What do I think?
Its great for all those people who have always believed they do not have time to scrapbook. Its also perfect to scrap a whole holiday where you literally have hundreds of photos to document a week or 2 in your life.

I don’t agree with documenting every single week….but hey – if you do that’s great! I just don’t need the added stress of making sure I have every week logged. But everyone’s life is different, and everyone manages their time differently (and I don’t really manage mine that well!!). I just know if I started with the intension of scrapping every week it will not happen after the 2nd week – and I really don’t need another thing to feel guilty about! lol

So how will I incorporate modular scrapbooking in my albums? I will be mixing it up. Have pages with traditional layouts, pages with lots of layers and then have pocket pages mixed in with it. I have a sample in the shop if you would like to see it.

What do you think of this style? Would you like to try it out?

Join us on Thursday where we will make 10 pages using the beautiful new Take Note Collection from Kaisercraft.

This is a class designed by Melissa Kennedy. When I was in melbourne for the retailer day they gave us 1 hour to complete this…. we have decided to make it 2 x 2 hour classes.

All you need to bring is 40 – 45 photos. (6×4″ both portrait and landscape) but if you don’t have the photos the first week bring them for the 2nd class, your favourite brown ink pad, pair of scissors, paper trimmer and your favourite adhesive.

Class costs $45 which covers both weeks, all plastic inserts needed, stickers, papers, collectables, wood flourishes etc.

Then we also have another class on Monday evening. (only if min. number have booked). This will be to create a full Holiday album.

We will be using both traditional layouts and pocket pages.
Kit includes:

18 x double sided patterned papers
1 x printed acetate
1 x 12″ sticker sheet
5 sheets of 12″ cardstock
1 matching album.

A personal Update…

Good Morning Everyone!

My last post (which is still in drafts) was written when I was travelling to Melbourne for 2 days of retailer training. Boy that seems so long ago!! Better get that one finished this weekend and I have a lot more to share with you too!

But firstly I would like to apologise for my absence a bit for the past 4 months and for the delay in posting orders etc.

In March my Dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer and our family went through the whole upheaval as you do when a family member is seriously ill. He had major surgery to remove the tumour and as you can imagine a 70 year old doesn’t just spring back.

There where a number of complications after the surgery which resulted in more surgery… what it comes down to for the past 4 months there have been a lot of appointments (specialist, Doctors, cancer specialists, blood tests, MRI’s, CT scans etc etc etc). There has also been a  LOT of waiting for results, lots of stress for all involved.

While dad was recovering my mum got sick as well and had 5 hour surgery 2 weeks ago. (supposed to be a 1 hour surgery but it seems my parents like to add a bit off drama and stress in!!)

So now the best news? My dad has no secondary cancer and Geoff Menezes is such a wonderful surgeon that he removed the original tumour so perfectly that there is none left. He is very fortunate to not even need chemo now. Things always happen for a reason, and if he hadn’t had those major complications after surgery he would have started Chemo 3 months ago….and it turns out its not even needed. And my mum is fine now too (just recovering still from the operation).

Now the big catch up has started and all those projects that have been on the waiting list are now getting started…

I would just like to say a quick thanks to my friends who knew what was going on and helped me. Thank you for asking how my dad was all the time, thank you for all your prayers and just Thank you for doing my work when I had slacked off!

That’s it for a personal post from me 🙂 I only posted all this to let you all know why I have seemed a bit (ok VERY!) absent for the past 4 months.
